Michael Clayton

I got around to seeing Michael Clayton this past weekend. The movie did look interesting to me, but was left a mystery by the trailers that didn’t reveal much of anything about the plot or story. I was pleased by the movie, and really enjoyed the unique atmosphere and pace that it had that was unlike other movies. With a great cast of George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Sydney Pollack and Tilda Swinton, it was hard to go wrong. I could see a few nominations, if not a winner. The general plot behind the movie is of a cover-up by a company that resulted in people’s deaths and scandals. The pacing of the movie is way different than any other like it though. It is also very dark, serious, and at some times comedic. I would call it Erin Brockovich meets the dark and dirty city. Like Erin Brockovich, it deals with a law firm and its dealings with a corrupt company. Unlike it, in Michael Clayton, the lawfirm is representing the dirty company, and stumbled on some secrets. Where there are secrets, there are cover-ups, scandals, and people’s lives getting messed up.

This movie is worth seeing for the acting, amazing camera angles, and pacing of the entire movie. Take all of those positive aspects, and add a great story with a great script, and you get quality movie that will get a few nods at the Oscars.

Final Score: 9 out of 10
