Stardust

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to see Stardust, the movie adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel. I went into the movie with no expectations. All I knew was that it had Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Deniro and Claire Danes in it, and there were some witches involved. I was so excited to see a sci-fi/fantasy movie that I had not already read the book for and knew everything that was going to happen.The movie was extremely witty and comical. I would compare it to the humor in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, or what I call smart humor. You have the think about the jokes and they are not your normal ‘dick and fart jokes’ that inhabit movies of crappy SNL cast members. ‘Smart humor’ is usually fairly common in British books and movies. The jokes make you laugh harder, longer and you feel more entertained instead of forced into a laugh.
I loved this movie, and plan to buy it when it releases on DVD. It did a great job of fulfilling what kind of movie it was, a witty science fiction comedy. It pokes fun at traditional stereotypes of fantasies and really makes you laugh. The all star cast did a great job of portraying the roles they were playing and made the movie that much better. Who would have though it would have Robert Deniro in drag in it? I give this movie a solid score of 8 out of 10. I don’t think it will be taking home any Oscars, but it is worth a watch in theaters and will be spending some time in my DVD player from time to time.
Final Score: 8 out of 10

I haven’t seen this yet but plan to, despite the reports of De Niro in drag…
:: SIGH ::
Hard to believe the guy who reinvented Vito Corleone in GF2 has gotten to the point where he’ll take any job in Hollywood.
I guess that actually happened when he signed on to be part of Rocky
Yeah, it is strange that De Niro is in it. He has been in some other strange but enjoyable movies, like Brazil (Terry Gilliam movie).
I LOVED this movie…and DeNiro was awesome! It was indeed a total surprise.
so …. you make the lettering and background both gray… pauley - seriously?
